“Anyone can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry WITH the right person, TO the right degree, AT the right time, FOR the right purpose and IN the right way — that is NOT easy.”     ~ Aristotle

Control Your Emotions

“I will permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him.”
~ Booker T. Washington

“To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe.”

            ~ Marilyn vos Savant

“A pat on the back, though only a few vertebrae removed from a kick in the pants, is miles ahead in results.”

          ~ Bennett Cerf

Just begin

“Begin acting as if what you would like to become is already your reality. This is a wonderful way to set into motion the forces that will collaborate with you to make your dreams come true.”

             ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer

If Only

“If only you could sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”

          ~Fred Rogers

Let Go of the Stones

“If you want to fill your hands with gold, you must first let go of the stones that you are holding.”  ~ Ancient Proverb

“Every individual has a place to fill in the world and is important, in some respect, whether he chooses to be so or not.”   ~ Nathaniel Howthorne

Learn from it

“It’s easy to carry the past as a burden instead of a school. It’s easy to let it overwhelm you instead of educate you.”    ~ Jim Rohn

There are many circumstances, personally and in our society, where this quote is relevant. It’s absolutely true, as I’ve learned through my own experience.

Accept the past is behind us and be proud of the scars we have on the other side. It’s kind of a “life tattoo”.

The Fear of Suffering

“My heart is afraid it will have to suffer,” the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless sky.

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”

“Every second of the search is an encounter with God,” the boy told his heart. “When I have been truly searching for my treasure, every day has been luminous, because I’ve known that every hour was part of the dream that I would find it. When I have been truly searching for my treasure, I’ve discovered  things along the way that I never would have seen had I not had the courage to try things that seemed impossible for a shepherd to achieve.”

      ~Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
